South of France Hotel Review: Hyatt Regency Nice – Palais de la Mediterranee

If you’re looking where to stay in the South of France, we recommend starting by searching hotels in Nice, France.

Nice is centrally located with the Nice Cote d’Azur Airport being the main international airport hub for the French Riviera. Nice also has more affordable hotel options compared to other parts of the South of France.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Hyatt Regency Nice – Palais de la Méditerranée, a French Riviera luxury 5 star hotel.

Location

It is only 10-15 min from the Nice Cote d’Azur Airport. It’s located in the historic Promenade des Anglais right across Blue Beach, a pebble beach with Gatorade blue waters. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and the Nice old town city center is only a 15 minute walk.

Address

13 Promenade des Anglais, Nice, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, France, 06000

Digital Check-in

You can check in online with your information and card on file, and will be provided a room number on the app. Hyatt Mobile Entry provides your room key on your smartphone so you don’t have to worry about forgetting or losing it. The entire check-in process is therefore streamlined so you skip waiting for someone at the front desk.

Check in time : 3pm

Check out time: 12pm

Cost

We went in late September and chose the 1 King Bed room which was going for $500/night. We stayed here for free using Hyatt points.

Hyatt Points: 29,000 points per night, total 58,000 for 2 nights. Award Category 6.

Overnight Valet Parking cost: $40/night (no self-parking options)

Booking Process on Points

Go to hyatt.com. Enter the hotel name, planned travel dates, number of rooms, number of guests, and check the “use points” option to see if available nights.

Travel Hack – When booking on points, you might find that there are limited reward nights when booking for more than 2 people for multiple nights. If you have 2 adults and child that can fit with you on a King Bed, we recommend trying to do a search for just 2 adults. We found that sometimes adding a child, certain rooms might count as 3 adults, which limit the reward night options. If the reward nights are limited for multiple nights, try testing the dates for one night at a time. Once booked, you can later message the hotel to request a rollaway bed or crib for your child free of charge.

Room Description

1 King Bed Room

Size: 344-376 sf ft with a king bed, desk, and marble bathroom.

View: Offers views of the inside courtyard or the terrace.

Room Amenities:

  • Flat-screen TV
  • Air conditioning
  • Safe
  • Alarm clock and bluetooth station
  • Bathrobes and slippers
  • Hair dryer
  • Iron/ironing board
  • Electric kettle with tea and coffee facilities
  • Nespresso machine
  • Minibar
  • Crib upon request
  • No rollaway bed*

*We were able to request a rollaway bed in advance, this is usually depending on the room location and availability, as certain rooms might be a bit smaller. Always try to ask in advance.

Hotel Amenities

We enjoyed their large heated indoor and outdoor pool. There is also a 24/7 gym/fitness center.

Food

Breakfast is not free with rewards nights but there is a restaurant and bar onsite called Le 3e which offers international cuisine. We didn’t try it as there are plentiful restaurants within walking distance.

We had an overall great stay at this family-friendly hotel. We loved the location and its proximity to everything.
